We are thrilled to announce that sailing is active again at the Great Salt Lake after years of challenging low lake levels. Our waters, once too shallow to navigate, are now welcoming sailors back with mostly open arms – as long as you aren’t drafting more than 5’ – and the excitement is palpable.
The Great Salt Lake Yacht Club is experiencing a resurgence in activity. We are proud to report that our membership has reached its highest level in five years. This growth is a clear sign of our community’s passion for sailing and our collective commitment to preserving and enjoying the beauty of the Great Salt Lake.
One of the highlights of our sailing season is the return of our weekly races. Every Wednesday night, when conditions permit. These races will continue through August, providing plenty of opportunities for both seasoned sailors and newcomers to engage in friendly competition and share in the joy of sailing.
In addition to our regular activities, we are excited to partner with organizations like “Grow the Flow” to celebrate the revitalization of the Great Salt Lake. Join us on June 15th, 2024, for Sailfest – an event dedicated to celebrating our lake’s recovery and promoting sustainable practices to ensure its health for future generations. Sailfest promises to be a day filled with fun, community spirit, and a shared love for our unique sailing environment.
